My dentist recommended an electric toothbrush that would alert if I pressed on my gums too hard. I was in the market for an affordable electric toothbrush. This checked all the boxes: affordable, cleans teeth well, timer, and sensor if pressing too hard. I was impressed how clean my teeth felt with the electric toothbrush versus when using a regular toothbrush.
So I have the same one and bought one for my wife because we were sharing one and changing out the head. Eventually my wife quite and I only used it, so I decided to buy her one. My teeth don't feel clean if I don't use it.
Easy to use. It has a tone every 30 seconds and I like the small brush head. I charge it probably once a week or maybe even get a little longer than that on a charge.
I got this based on a review from the Times, and have been using this everyday for almost a month now. It's a great toothbrush with built in timer (around 30 seconds for each quadrant). If you're not used to an electric toothbrush, it might feel a bit odd (and hurt a little) at first, but you'll get used to it eventually.
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. I purchased this because I was given one about 2 years ago and it has been a life changer for me. My dentist Hygienist said my gums had improved since I started using this toothbrush. Not cheap but I would recommend this to anyone.
Good toothbrush so far, I bought it from Wirecutter's recommendation. This toothbrush does indeed have a pressure sensor, but it's subtle, and the instruction manual does not describe in enough detail how it works, hence the confusion in these reviews. This is from Oral-B's website:"All our toothbrushes from the Pro 1000 and above include the pressure sensor. These toothbrushes will stop pulsating when pressing too hard, which will feel and sound noticeably different during brushing. By 'pulsation', we are referring to that the brush head itself is moved forward and backwards very quickly, towards and away from the teeth."If you turn on the toothbrush and push on the stem with your finger (as if brushing too hard) you'll hear a quiet click, and can feel something disengage inside the brush head (I suspect that's the "pulsations" disengaging). If you then put the brush in your mouth, and push it too hard against your teeth, you'll hear the motor get louder/make a slightly different sound. It's more subtle than I'd like, but that is how the pressure sensor works. It's a bit of an acquired feeling.Hope this description helps someone, because it's kind of hard to figure out just from the instruction manual and product page.
I have one of these for myself, so I bought my boyfriend a matching one as a present! He loves it!PROS:- easy to clean your teeth with, definitely gives you a good thorough clean feel- easy to clean the actual toothbrush itself as well- love that it comes with a charging stand to set up in the bathroom- also love that you can purchase replacement brushes for it once yours gets too worn down- great for travel -- doesn't lose charge for a LONG time, mine has gone days without being charged and I never had battery issuesCONS:- it is frustrating to have to fight with the charging cord sometimes -- it's a little thick/stiff so sometimes you really have to maneuver it to ensure that your toothbrush stands up in place
Excellent toothbrush. I've been using electrics for about 10 yrs & needed new. This one is great. Cant imagine using manual now. Like olden times.
I have no use for Bluetooth- but the brush cleans well and Oral B electrics last a long time. Only my third one in 22 years.
I love this toothbrush! I had purchased one that vibrated from my dentist and absolutely hated it. There is NO vibrating just fast rotating head . I love the timing pulse that lets you know when it's time to move to another area. My teeth feel super clean! I'm a customer for life!
My teeth have never been cleaner! Vibrates every 30 seconds to let you know to switch spots and vibrates four times to let you know you've brushed for two minutes (the recommended time) adjustable intensity. Waterproof for cleanup. I do not think the heads last three months though so you're looking to spend more than implied at least in my case. It's worth it for the convenience and extra clean I get though.
I bought this not sure whether I'd like an electric toothbrush, so not wanting to spend a lot of money. After almost three years of use I'm happy with the device, except for one thing. This has "standard" batteries, which I believe means Nicad. Their life is getting weak at three years of use, and the warning light no longer even comes on before it will stop running due to a low battery. These units are on sale right now, but I'm going to wait for the 1500 to go on sale, which has Lithium Ion batteries. That should have a longer life if treated properly. And I did try to treat the Nicad batteries as they should be treated, but it still didn't help. A reminder of how bad Nicad batteries are.Edit: I ended up buying the 5000 on sale--it was $15 more than this model also on sale. After using it I'm upgrading the rating I gave to 5 stars because this works just was well as the more expensive model, which has a lot of unnecessary features that border on frivolous. Besides the upgraded battery though, the 5000 has three lights to indicate battery charge, as opposed to just one light which will give a warning of low battery if the battery is not near end of life. You can decide whether those two things (possible battery life beyond three years and three warning lights) are worth the extra $15. I find it a close call.
